2000
Pica Design officially opened its doors in Belfast, Maine, the hub of the midcoast. Founder, Rob Dietz, gets to work and hires good friend Cassidy Parmley to help him pound the pavement.
2001
We built on our early success and welcomed new clients throughout midcoast and downeast Maine. We also joined the local chamber of commerce.
2002
We expanded our relationship with the creative community and set our targets on offering new services. We mourned the loss of one of our computers and then rejoiced in the arrival of the latest and greatest, Apple Quicksilver G4.
2003
In 03, we hired Jennifer DeJoy, copywriter and PR professional extraordinaire and sought a larger office space on the 3rd floor to accommodate our growing size.
2004
Off to a good start and feeling confident, we entered our first design competition and came away with the First Place Golden Arrow Award from the Maine Public Relations Council. (It's great to be honored by your peers)
2005
We commemorated our 5th year in business with a Holiday gathering feast for clients, vendors, friends and staff. We also added our newest member, Reuben Brown, graphic designer, to the team to help us with new accounts throughout Maine, New England and beyond.
2006
Caitlin Holman joined the team and brought website development at Pica to a whole new level. Similarly, Di Murphy also joined the team as bookkeeper to keep us financially fit. Rob was appointed to the Board of the AIGA Maine Chapter as the Communications Director and helped bring the BoNE Show to Maine. Last but not least, we received the Vendor of the Year Award from one of our best clients, Hydro-Photon, Inc. (It's even better to be honored by your Clients)
2007
After creating some pretty extraordinary retail work in packaging and point-of-purchase displays, we decided to enter a new round of design competitions and came away with a Silver Broderson Award for Integrated Marketing Campaign. We also welcomed graphic design specialist Micah Ellis to the team. (Some things will never be the same :)
2008
We saw red…a red couch that is, in the new lounge. Trying to keep up with recent growth, we expanded our office spaces to include a new meeting and inspiration area as well as a photo studio. We welcomed new accounts in finance and the non-profit realm.
2009
In 09, we experienced a year of transitions. We lost Caitlin to graduate school so that she could do more amazing things, but we gained James Mehorter a local web developer with all the goods. Feeling ambitious, we decided to launch an advocacy group, TxtResponsibly.org, to combat the increasing trend of distracted driving with a focus on texting while driving. Our work earned us a trip to Washington, D.C. through the U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. Oh, and we were once again awarded a Broderson Award. In this case, we won two Bronze Awards for the categories of Self-Promotion and Integrated Marketing Campaign. Nice!
2010
Looking back, it's hard to believe that Pica Design is celebrating its 10th year in business. Time flies when you're having fun and doing what you love. We have been fortunate to work with so many wonderful clients, companies and individuals over the years. Our success has been your success and for that we are very grateful. On behalf of the entire Pica Design Family, thank you, Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for the New Year!
